There is nothing more important than a good guitar strap. It defines your image. It ensures the safety of your guitar, without which you would be lost. Every musician is unique. Some want a strap for purely comfort reasons. Others only care for the look and will grin and bear the comfort factor. No matter what your preference, Levy's has you covered! I had the priviledge of trying out a Designer Sublimation Printed Strap (#070). It is straight polyester, 2" wide and adjustable to 60" with a tri-glide adjustment. While none of those specifications are extremely innovative, wait until you try it out! Your immediate reaction when you hold one of these straps is the feel. It is silky smooth, free of any crease or kink. It's like a freshly pressed and ironed shirt, except it never wrinkles. 37 years of Levy's craftmanship goes into these straps and it's very impressive! The design is also elegant. This one personally appealed to me, however there are so many, you are bound to find one that suits you. The catagories range from Urban Print Straps, to Genre Guitar Straps, to their new for 2011 Lyrical Guitar Staps. Lastly, some of the features of this strap are the little things that make a world of difference. The ends are polyester, like the actual strap, but they are really solid. Personally, I've used straps that have fallen off the buttons mid-song, but I can be safe in the knowledge that this one never will. The adjustment is also great-- big or small, punk-rocker or classical guitarist, the strap is shorter or longer when you need it to be. My only small critcism for Levy's is that their website would be a lot easier to navigate if it had some sort of advanced search. Some way to choose your material and your genre and be able to search the straps that fit that criteria. However, that being said, their website is not hard to navigate in its current system, I just feel like I'm missing some of their straps while browsing. This Christmas, get a Levy's strap for the musician in your family. It's the affordable gift that anyone can appreciate! 4.5/5 |

The clean boost is simple, but effective. It is great in situations where one of your pedals is mixed too loud and when you turn it off your guitar is mixed too low. Clean boost allows you to raise your volume without distorting your sound. While a clean boost pedal can seem like a waste of valuable pedal board space, it is a great addition to your overdrive unit. However the clean boost is just the icing. The overdrive is the cake. This pedal is my favourite sounding overdrive I have ever played. I don't say that lightly either, this pedal is my overdrive of choice. Why? Let's go through it! The gain, level, and tone knobs are standard in almost every overdrive pedal, so that isn't new. The Fat switch is becoming more popular these days, but is a nice addition. The three-way diode selector is unique and fun to experiment with. The left position is classic drive, good for almost any style of music. The right position is a little grungier and messy, best for 70's rock 'n' roll. The centre position is a thicker, tighter sound that is the bread-and-butter of this pedal. Any guitarist searching for their 'sound' will be instantly drawn to the thick lows and the crisp highs! The pedal has true bypass, of course, and is hand-built. Made of tough metal and with a durable finish, all HomeBrew Electronics pedals have a lifetime warranty. So, even though H.B.E only advertises this pedal as 2-in-1, it really is 4-in-1. Three different overdrive sounds and a clean boost. Not only do you get all this sound, but it is priced very reasonably at $250. You will be hard-pressed to find a pedal with all these features, but I can guarantee you won't find it for less, or even close to $250! HomeBrew Electronics is a small company with big sounds. If you are going to buy one pedal in your entire guitar career, this is the one you should be buying. You won't be disappointed! 5/5 |
